I have something to admit. Ready
for it? I like the Bee Gees! Have done for years, but was afraid to say so for
many years. Phew, that’s a weight off my shoulders.
Anyway, I love their song ‘How Deep
Is Your Love’, as it always seems to hit me somewhere emotionally and the very
title itself and the lyrics of the song hit me too. They are somewhere between
despairing of finding true love, and the constant quest we singletons all have
to make a real connection with a member of the opposite sex, fall in love, have
kids and get fat!!! But, I feel that it is so true to life, that even when we
are balanced emotionally, we all swing from a kind of painful despair making us
feel desperate that we’ll never meet anyone and then to a kind of idealised
enforced optimism where we feel we are floating on a cloud moving ever towards
the love of our life... and then return.
I know your eyes in the morning sun
I feel you touch me in the pouring rain
And the moment that you wander far from me
I want to feel you in my arms again
And you come to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love, then you softly leave
And it's me you need to show
How deep is
your love, how deep is your love
How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
I believe in
you
You know the door to my very soul
You're the light in my deepest, darkest hour
You're my savior when I fall
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do
And it's me you need to show
You know the door to my very soul
You're the light in my deepest, darkest hour
You're my savior when I fall
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside that I really do
And it's me you need to show
How deep is
your love, how deep is your love
How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
And you come
to me on a summer breeze
Keep me warm in your love, then you softly leave
And it's me you need to show
Keep me warm in your love, then you softly leave
And it's me you need to show
How deep is
your love, how deep is your love
How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me
How deep is
your love, how deep is your love

Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me

Wonderful post. A lot of things you share are very relatable and gives a person much to think about. I also got to admit I liked the BeeGees too.
ReplyDeleteI think they wrote really good songs, but somehow they were never taken seriously by the 'critics' because they were too popular?! Go figure, I believe our Yankee cousins might say!
ReplyDeleteTim,
ReplyDeleteI love this post because I believe when we express how we truly feel about something it will help others who may be experiencing the same things.
Not only that, but where your first sentence is:-
'I have something to admit. Ready for it? I like the Bee Gees! Have done for years, but was afraid to say so for many years. Phew, that’s a weight off my shoulders.'
I believe that sharing sometimes the way we are thinking releases us from stress. Although, I can not understand why sharing your like of the BeeGees is something to worry about, I liked them too, as did lots of people.
I don't believe we can fully know a person until we express our real feelings to them and they do the same with us. Going by what we see on the outside does not work at all, I have interacted with many people on the blogs and if I have not seen their picture I get an automatic picture in my mind of what they look like and it never lines up with reality. Even pictures do not portray what a person truly looks like because we 'pose' for them.
That is why I love to know a person's thoughts, even though this takes time, and get to know that person over a period of time.
I agree. I have a few pictures of Sateigdra, and consider her a good friend, so knowing what she looks like helps me. She is very attractive as well! But we are just friends! I think your new picture is nicer but I loved your old picture as well because somehow you looked very Welsh. I suppose Wales is my favourite country, but I hope to visit many more. Anyone got a spare ticket to the Bahamas?!
ReplyDeletelol. Why am I just seeing this comment. I have been on facebook too much and missing out on all the happenings on the blogosphere, though I still post on my wordpress blog some of the time. Thanks for those nice comments Tim. I loved Brenda's comment about "posing" for pictures, it reminded me of how important it is not to judge a person simply based on how they look even in a photograph no matter how nice it is because we're just posing in them anyway. Who we really are is on the inside hidden away, a photograph cannot capture it only conversation and getting to know people like Brenda said can reveal who a person really is, only that can reveal if there is real beauty in that person.
DeleteI love Wales Tim,
ReplyDeleteWe have travelled over many parts of the world, but for me we have everything beautiful in the four countries in the UK. The only other place that I would like to visit is St Petersburg in Russia. I have always loved Russia, and think Putin is a much better president than Cameron or Obama.
The Red Square in Moscow is beautiful, I have never been there except for my trips their on Google map, lol. I have been many places all over the world sitting right in my bedroom cruising across the map on Google map, satellite view is best because I can go on the streets close up. I went to Australia on there, New Zealand, pretty much all the Scandanavian countries, some African and Asian countries and a few middle eastern ones. I even went down to Antartica just to say I went there, lol. I also went to Brighton once, lol. Maybe one day if God wills it I can visit the UK for real and maybe get to meet my great British friends or it would be nice if I was able to fly all of you down here to The Bahamas. I have only ever visited some North American states.
